Things have been rather quiet around here, admittedly. I've sort of lost some steam and don't have much time or energy to blog these days. Nearly every person I know that started a blog has burned out rather quickly. Actually, that is fairly common, most blogs don't last very long. I've been doing this for over a year now so I've lasted quite a bit longer than most. I still view blogs as a very important medium but unless your page rank is over 5 (my page rank never got higher than 2) then you probably have to ask yourself if it's worth the time and effort.
I sort of took a slightly different approach to blogging. Rather than use it as a diary or journal, I preferred to try to communicate useful information via links and occasionally share things that I had learned. Of course, with the proliferation of RSS feeds and news aggregators it seems like I was basically only operating as a filter for news that people could easily find on their own.
Going forward (man, I really am a victim of the corporate culture) the plan is to cut down on posting quite a bit. When I *do* post it will probably be a link to something I feel is important enough or funny enough that I just have to post about it. More likely, I will post an occasional photo or some other information related to photography. I've decided to try to build a stock photo business so this site will probably slowly evolve into that arena. Over the next year or so I will be putting together as many images as possible in order to build a portfolio. I've already got a part of the site that I'm building now to support this business. It will have a search engine and low-res pictures of all the images in the database. At some point I will publish the URL and solicit some feedback for improvements. Selected images will be made available as wallpaper on a regular basis.
Speaking of wallpaper, I have a couple really good ones I'd like to post here. I am getting back three rolls of slides today and I'm pretty sure I have a couple good shots in the bunch. Of course, one roll might be completely ruined, I opened the back of my camera and forgot to rewind the film before doing so. Sometimes I do some really stupid things.
