Kept putting it off hoping to find a wireless spot so I could upload from my PPC. I will upload some pics and give a summary of the trip when I get the fog cleared from my head. I do have to say that Munich is now one of my favorite cities in the world...
A church in Mexico has installed equipment to block cell phone signals in an effort to reduce disruptions during services. I can think of a few other places I'd like to see similar equipment installed. My friend (I'll call him E) had a pretty funny thing happen to him one day. He was in the restroom at work, when suddenly he recognized the voice of the CEO from behind one of the stalls. The conversation went something like this:
CEO: Hey, how's it going?
E: Uhhhhh, okay.
CEO: Have a good lunch?
E:
CEO: How are things going?
E: Not bad.
About this time, my friend realizes the CEO is using his cell phone in the stall. Now, I don't know about you, but restrooms are usually full of all kinds of sounds that I usually don't want someone else to hear.
I received my copy of the Sept./Oct. issue of Sport Rocketry magazine in the mail today with my shot on the cover. Unfortunately, my copy got beat up pretty badly in the mail. But here's a picture of the cover of the magazine and of the credit.
The word is getting out, all the cool kids are using Firefox. Check out what has happened in the last 72 hours since the preview release of version 1.0. Like many others, I came for the popup blocker, and stayed for the tabbed windows. But you might like it because it is more secure or more standards-compliant.
Rob Galbraith and Digital Photography Review have posted some information on Nikon's newest digital SLR camera, the D2X. I just have one thing to say about it...HOLY SHIT!! 12.21 megapixel, 5 fps (8 fps in hi-speed crop mode) for up to 3 seconds in NEF format, Adobe RGB in all color modes, support for the new wireless transmitter (802.11g), plus tons of other features. Expected availability will be the beginning of next year with a street price of about $5000. I'm saving my pennies.

Digital Photography Review posted an article today about a new data transfer protocol called PTP/IP (Picture Transfer Protocol) for sending images over a wireless LAN. The protocol is being collaborated on by Nikon, FotoNation and Microsoft. This is going to be huge for studio and sports photography, essentially giving photographers unlimited shot-taking ability, and particularly for sports photography, where photographers normally carry around stacks of CF cards to swap in and out of card readers. Of course, home users will benefit from this, also, once support for this protocol makes its way into consumer digital cameras.
This is my favorite time of the year. Football Sundays...beer, barbeque, beer, football, beer, cheerleaders, beer...did I mention the beer? Tom will be happy to know that I drafted LaDainian Tomlinson with the 2nd pick overall in my fantasy draft. I also drafted Donovan McNabb, who had a pretty decent game yesterday. But I think the highlight of the day for me was seeing Eli Manning get his clock cleaned. Anyone have a video of that or perhaps a picture?

Since nobody really wants to read about jorge's cats, pictures of bugs and .net - I am here to make a few guest entries related to my trip to Germany and Italy over the next few weeks. We leave on Thursday so look for something this weekend.

My good friend Andy and his wife are traveling to Europe over the next three weeks, so I added him as an author so he will have a place to update us on his trip. Hopefully he'll be able to find plenty of WiFi hotspots.
